I play the begining of song with a guitar riff similar to the Waylon
Jennings medly<br>
version. You can hear Buddy slide the open D chord up to E but at the end
of the verses<br>
he plays open E almost skipping the A. Buddy had such a great sense of
rhythm and timing.<br>
I read that Buddy Holly's mother partially wrote this song but was not
credited. It was<br>
recorded at the Officers mess at Tinker AFB while Buddy was on a day off
from touring.<br>
All the background vocals were added later. The drummer JI Allison was
trying to play a<br>
beat similar to Little Richards Lucille and I think thats what makes the
intro sound so<br>
